HORRORS OF THE NIGHT
It was a gloomy evening in crimson state park, while i was staggering with my buddy trying to find our way back to our motel. We tried to call but couldn't get any signal in our phones either. Visting and exploring Australia was always been a dream for us and now we are here to live our best days of our life and that's what we thought too.I told my buddy “ I guess we are lost” and he replied in a tensed tone “ no we are not ” while he was continuously rotating the map in his hand trying to locate the way. He continued to mumble feebly “I can't believe this is happening to us, I am sure we took the right turn”. I was just too tired to even argue with him. Suddenly out of the blue it started to rain heavily,the last thing we wanted was to catch a cold so we started sprinting together that's when we saw a bright yellow light in the distant. We thought of asking help to the person there. As we reached close to the bright light i could see it was old wooden cabin with thick bushes surrounding all around it and i was praying to myself that someone should be there in the cabin. I was about to knock the door when my buddy Jacob said,“ I don't think it's a good idea Rohit, i feel something off about this place”. And he added,“why don't we go back to the place where we started and from there we can find the way ourself”.“In this rain??” i asked angrily. Without giving any heed to him, I starting knocking loudly hoping someone would open the door. An old lady in her late 60s opened the door, she took a quick glance at us and understood the reason for us darkening her doorway. She offered to let us stay in her cabin for the night. I thanked her for her hospitality and asked, “Do you have a phone that we could use?”. She replied “ No” with a creepy smile on her face. My friend was mumbling and cursing again,“ bloody hell! why the hell am not getting any signal in this stupid phone”. The old lady replied creepily,“Its because of the storm , you won't be able contact anyone until the storm passes over”. Hearing this i could feel chills running down my spine. As it was getting late,me and my buddy thought of sleeping off the night together just to be a bit extra cautious. We dozed off as soon as we hit the pillow, in the middle of the night i woke up to some weird noises coming from the hall. It sounded like ‘ squeak squeak’. I was both curious and little scared as i walked towards the hall, I could see the old lady sharpening a big knife in the dim light. I gulped in fear as I saw it, I gathered all my courage and asked her in a feeble voice,“ what are you doing?”. She replied in a eerie way “ I am sharpening my knife to prepare for a feast tomorrow ”. And she continued to sharp her knife as if i was not there. I moved back to the bedroom reassuring myself that everything is gonna be ok. But Little did I know that things are gonna take a horrible turn from now. I locked the door and laid beside my sleeping friend trying to sleep. I thought to myself should i stay awake and be guard till the rest of the night or am i just overthinking. Number of thoughts rushed in my mind and one part of me was asking myself ‘who does sharpen their knife in the middle of the night?’ and another part of me replied ‘maybe she is just a crazy old lady’. I was wondering whether I should tell my friend what I saw but i didn't wanted to frighten him even more. There was this awful silence now, i could no longer hear the ‘squeak’ sounds from the hall. I was relieved thinking that the old lady has finally gone to sleep. An hour passed and i was still not getting any sleep that's when my friend woke up and said he wanted to use the restroom. I asked my friend just to be quite while he attended to his duties in the restroom. As i continued to lay in the bed, I dozed off again. I woke up to find myself alone in the bed and checked the time as it was still dark. It was 3 a.m and my friend was still missing. I thought of checking on him, as i walked out of the bedroom slowly i looked at both the ways of the narrow corridor hoping to my find my buddy. Before I could take an other step, i felt something cold gushing in my feet but i couldn't see what it was in the dark. That's when I saw a dim light coming from a partly closed door at the end of the corridor, as i neared it I could make out that the liquid in my feet were red in colour. I peeped inside to see blood everywhere in the floor and the walls. I saw something which frightened me to the core and made me froze in horror. The old lady was cutting the head of my buddy with the same knife she was Sharpening hours ago with a eerie smile in her face. I could see alot of dismembered body parts belonging to more than one person scattered all across the room. I could feel my heart pounding so hard as if it was gonna burst. I was afraid that the old lady is gonna hear my loud pounding heart but that's when my phone started ringing. I trembled in fear trying to switch off my phone and when I looked inside the room again. The old lady was no longer cutting my friend, but was now looking at me with the same eerie smile and the sharp knife in her hand.
